Have you tried the compressor part in ReaFIR? I think it is amazing to glue things together. I am GUESSING it works like a multiband compressor with hundreds/thousands of bands or something like that but unfortunately it does not support zero or near zero latency and it is linear phase. Having a plugin like that which is open source and works on Linux would be a dream! I guess Voxengo Soniformer works kind of like it.
