Hi Keycastr team - following up on an earlier comment regarding the symbol for the escape key (https://github.com/keycastr/keycastr/issues/195)
While the esc symbol used in the keycastr app makes sense to many mac users, it may not be universally understood by non-mac users. When creating content that's intended for cross-platform audiences (windows + linux), it would be helpful if users can customize the symbol for the esc key, or have a "cross platform" mode - just a suggestion
thanks!

Hey @daniel-packard thank you for opening an issue about this. While KeyCastr is most definitely a mac app, it makes sense that screencast creators may want the ability for more customization in order to target different audiences.
There does seem to be a need allow/deny/override lists for more advanced use cases. We have other issues for implementing allow/deny lists (see #152) so I will edit this to reflect the desire to override at least certain keystrokes. In addition to the escape key use case, I could see this being desirable for a few other special keys (
fnvs 🌐) , as well as upcoming enhancements to the mouse click visualizer.@nilsreiter commented on GitHub (Apr 25, 2023):
The control key would be another candidate.
