Is there any way to only forward the keyboard but NOT the mouse?

If not I would have to disable the local mouse of the computer with something like:
xinput --enable 12
xinput --disable 12

But then it would require an additional hotkey binding to run this script also my Steelseries mouse seems to be a pain in the a on this machine which if I disable it comes right back on with another ID...
