maybe I'm just doing something wrong but I've been trying to hot key a toggle-able switch between smooth transition and locking me to my windows gaming pc(Client) from my linux streaming/workstation(Server).

Not sure why that isn't working, but for what it's worth you don't need to set a hotkey for this, it's already bound to scroll lock key.
