So in the complete and total absence of any install documentation whatsoever, is there something you want me to do with all these random files? Yout .bat files simply open and close without an error and nothing happens.

If this has to be compiled, probably should add a section called "install instructions" and put that there.

Abandoning this and going back to Synergy, no point beating my head against a wall.

Hi @WreckWren -

I apologize for our lack of documentation. I admit it is very sparse. The core team has been working on Barrier for only a few months and in our spare time. I hope you'll be patient with us!

Just recently we added a dedicated developer to oversee our documentation efforts. I'll pass this issue onto him now, but please be courteous as he has not been with us for very long and he is also donating his time for free to make Barrier a better project. Thanks!

@AdrianKoshka - Can you update this thread once the appropriate documentation is in-place? Thank you :)

I don't have a windows system to try to build on, I could attempt to spin up a VM...I also have no experience with building anything from source on windows. Do you @walker0643 ? Can't say this is my personal area of expertise. Also won't be in IRC most of today.

@AdrianKoshka - You can use this page that I wrote up in February as a reference. Also there are Synergy's instructions which are quite a bit different but might help you.

The main thing, I think, is just to work with @WreckWren and find out why our current documentation is insufficient.

The earliest I might be able to test building on windows would be this upcoming Tuesday, windows 10 just won't boot within QEMU/KVM on Fedora 28.

outline to solve this issue:

  • Get around to setting up a windows 10 dev machine.
  • Figure out how to build barrier on windows.
  • Document the build process.
