Server: Windows 10
Client ubuntu 20.04

Version 2.3.2-snapshot-210c2b70

The bug occurs all the time. I know I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what. on ubuntu I attempt to connect but it just says its starting. when I check the log it says connection timed out over and over again. I've tried certain commands other reports of similar errors like:

nc -vz 192.168.56.1 24800 (when typed in it takes a while and says connection timed out.)
Test-NetConnection -Port 24800 -ComputerName localhost -InformationLevel Detailed (on the windows box this says unable to connect and at the bottom of PowerShell it says it failed.)

I don't know what else to do. if any more information is needed just ask and you shall receive.

it started to occur right out the gate, I have found no workaround. it does prevent me from using it entirely. I followed the guide about adding barrier to the windows firewall. that made no difference. I have a sonic wall if that sheds light on any possible issues. I've tried to go into my other os on the Linux machine. so both pcs were windows 10. they both said barrier is running. both were allowed through the firewall. yet when I tried to move my mouse to the other screen it didn't work. I even added the screen in the configure server giving its screen name and that had no difference. if I need to send screenshots I will happily do so I just want this resolved.

Put anything else you can think of here.

@GuineaPig352 can you post the logs (set to at INFO) from the Win10 server?

Greetings,

By default Win10 starts up a firewall and the firewall does not recognize Synergy, and by extension Barrier. As such, it does not open the correct inbound port by default. I know you said you followed the instructions, but I would recommend look closer at your Win10 firewall.

Also, you state that you have a SonicWall, it should not be seeing any of this traffic unless your two systems are on different subnets... and if they are, you may need to ensure that the ports are open on the SonicWall.

I would like to apologise gentlemen. the reason it wasn't working was that the port was one number lower on the windows server. I don't know how that happened but it did. it works on everything now. os I can confirm the firewall had nothing to do with it.
