Other info
This bug obviously requires the status bar icon support, which was added for third party programs in Pop!_OS 19.10 (as far as I know), so it never occurred on older versions.
Aside from accessing the application menu, it doesn't affect the operation of the program or service. It also only happens on my Macbook Pro Late 2015 (client), the desktop server doesn't even show the status bar icon.
I'm a beginner at Linux, so if anyone can point me to where I can get any helpful logs I would be happy to provide more info.

Update: It stopped crashing? I think I updated the OS, but it wasn't a major update. At least, not big enough to change the OS version number.
