Operating Systems

Server: Windows 10 version 1903

Client: Fedora 30

Barrier Version

2.3.2

Steps to reproduce bug

  1. Windows 10 server on the right.
2 Laptop LCD as right monitor
  2. VGA monitor extending Windows desktop to the left.
  3. Configure server, add Linux client to square immediately to left of server.
  4. Reload configuration.
  5. Start server.
  6. Start client. Client connects.
  7. Move mouse to left edge of Windows left monitor, does not transition to Linux client.
  8. Configure server, add Linux client to square above server.
  9. Reload configuration.
  10. Client connects.
  11. Move mouse to top edge of either Windows monitor, transitions to Linux client from bottom of screen.

Other info

  • The problem occurred after initial install and setup completed.
  • Yes, put Linux client on top, bottom, or right.
  • No (just confusing, as Linux client screen is on the left).

Questions:

  1. Are you using GNOME
  2. If you are using GNOME, are you using it in wayland, or X11 mode?

No, using XFCE, X11 mode.

I did try switching server/client. With Fedora 30 (XFCE spin) as server and Windows 10 as client, I could not get any configuration to bring the mouse/keyboard over to Windows.

Switched back to Windows 10 as server, the only combination that seems to work is Linux at the top. Left, right, and bottom do not work. This is still with the Windows 10 setup with extended monitor to the left.

So, update on this. I am trying to recall the exact steps, but I might be a bit off here.
Linux as server, Windows as client was not working, with or without extended monitor.
Changed setup to duplicate screen on Windows, Windows as server. Not working.
Changed setup to only use screen 2 (the external monitor) on Windows, Windows as server, Linux to the left. THIS WORKED!
I changed the setup again, extend the display (external monitor as 2, LCD as 1), Linux on the left, still working*. Interesting.
