What happened?

See below that I had added another screen with the client's screen name.

What OSes are you seeing the problem on? (Check all that apply)

Windows

What OS versions are you using?

Windows 11 Server, Windows 7 Client

Relevant log output

Via "network discovery" I was able to connect to file system of Windows 7 from Windows 11 after selecting "share with everyone" for a file in Windows 7 but on Windows 7, after activating all discover options, it still did not discover the Windows 11. When I used used "Ditto", I could send clips from Windows 11 to Windows 7 but not the other way round; moreover, the "send all copies" feature did not work.

I asked another highly computer proficient person and he said he vaguely remembered seeing some report of one way incompatibility between Windows 7 and Windows 11 though he was not sure.

In any case, if anyone has gotten Barrier or Ditto to fully work between Windows 7 and Windows 11, your suggestions would be much appreciated.

The Ditto problem was resolved by using a different version. Moreover, I realized that the server IP in bold that I used yesterday was actually the Ethernet as opposed to WLAN one. The same issue remained though after I disabled the Ethernet adapter so that barrier would use the WLAN one.

Also, some documentation on how to configure the IP address in the .sgc file would have been helpful.

did you by chance ever have synergy installed? i had the same issue where barrier was stuck at starting and that was because the synergy service was still on my pc after removing synergy. So had to delete the service and reinstall barrier, then worked fine
