What happened?
I was having a seamless experience using Barrier between arch and windows. Windows running the server with a 1440p monitor and arch as a guest with a 1080p monitor.
I made the upgrade to a 4k monitor and switched things around. Now windows the server has a 4k monitor and arch the guest has a 1440p monitor. I lose my mouse in this configuration, it works the other way around. It also works if I change my monitors resolutions to match.
I know the obviously solution is to just run the server on arch but my windows machine is a virtual machine that I pass through my mouse and keyboard so i need to run it in this configuration otherwise I need to use a second keyboard to unlock windows.

I have the same issue I was running my windows 11 pc (server and was window 10 and still had this issue) as at 1920x1080 and my windows 10 PC(client) at the same resolution but was having issue running games on the primary monitor at non-native resolution(native being 3840x2160) so I switch to native resolution on the desktop and now the cursor switches to the windows 10 PC halfway accorss the windows 11 pc 4k screen like it is using the old 1920x1080 resolution to decide where the boarder is and on top of that when the cursor goes to the windows 10 PC it goes to the bottom right of the screen and wont move with the windows 11 pc mouse so I have to hook up another mouse and turn off the client side of connection to get my mouse back to my windows 11 pc

I have the same issue between Ubuntu and Windows 10
@chemisch commented on GitHub (Mar 14, 2022):
Some resolution and a comment. Apparently my 1440p monitor was running at 1080. Need to change out cables. Didn't even realize I was using a single link dvi. Although I may not even want to as it simply for Linux things, running off integrated graphics as a host for my other vms. Short on horsepower as is.
Issue was solved by ponying up the money for synergy Although If I fix my resolution issue I'll try out barrier again for shits and giggles. Might be to blame but dunno.
@flowoow commented on GitHub (Mar 14, 2022):
I actually downgraded the server to 2.3.3 on ubuntu and back in business. Looks like 2.4.0 related..
@chemisch commented on GitHub (Mar 14, 2022):
Interesting, sounds like such an obvious thing to try now. Welp to late now.
@adsavia commented on GitHub (Mar 30, 2022):
I have issues too with Windows 11 and 2.4.. have a Dell XPS 15" with HiRes screen (3840x2160) and a Dell HiRes monitor (3840x2160). The mouse does not go all the way across, kind of centered in a box between laptop and monitor - very odd. Rolling back to 2.3.4 fixes the issue so that's what I am using at the moment.
On my shared computers - my Macbook Pro laptop (Apple Silicon) with an "extended" HP 1920x1200 monitor and my oldish Intel NUC running Fedora with a 1920x1200 monitor BOTH are still working great with 2.4.
Thanks again for such an awesome project. Really appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into this...
@ngrosso commented on GitHub (May 1, 2022):
In my case worked just downgrading the windows (host) side at verion 2.3.3 and the ubuntu (client) stayed at version 2.4.0 because i couldn't downgrade the ubuntu one
@jockie commented on GitHub (May 7, 2022):
This workaround fixed the issue for me: https://github.com/debauchee/barrier/issues/94#issuecomment-934400562
@chris-y commented on GitHub (Nov 14, 2022):
I'm having a similar issue. Server is a Raspberry Pi, client is a Windows 10 laptop with a second screen. The second screen is 4K and the pointer disappears about three quarters of the way across. The workaround mentioned above worked for me.
@mistyron commented on GitHub (Aug 13, 2023):
Same issue here:
The cursor unexpectedly disappears (on ~2/3 of the screen) from the screen on the 4k monitor when moving toward the client screen. This makes it pretty much unusable :(
