macOS Monterey 12.1 beta 3 seems to have a bug that breaks gamma table based software dimming on some configurations. Symptoms are - dimming not working or color/display artifacts appear. Hopefully this issue will be resolved by the next macOS beta or the final release. There is not much we can do about it at our end.

Temporary solutions:

You can disable Combine hardware and software dimming for the time being or you can activate `
Avoid gamma table manipulation` under Displays and use overlay based dimming (which is a less effective technique but not affected by the bug).
