Hi with the Dell U3818DW the controls are greyed out:

Its connected to a mbp 16" to display port in a CalDigit hub which connects through one of the thunderbolt 3 ports.

I'm willing to look / fix it in the code, but I'd need some sort of starting point to know where to look for the potential issue.

Ok, so actually it works! There's an option in the display's OSD, in Menu / Others, DDC/CI -> On (it was Off) previously.

The sliders in the menu dont seem to read the screen's state but the keyboard shortcuts work, which is all that really matters to me :)
